Hey HeavyRail crew - made the move from Chicago to San Francisco two weeks ago and am finally settling in.

Anyone here have good experience with a particular dealership and/or equipment service shop in the area? Doesn't have to be in SF but surrounding Bay area is just fine.

Also - if anyone knows a solid operators and contractors group out here i'm all ears.

Cheers - JJMagoo (Josh)

Welcome to the Bay Area! I've had my 2015 Deere 644 loader serviced at Special Trackwork Inc and they do a pretty good job and Boardwalk in Redwood City is okay too. Stewart Equipment in Colma isn't too far from you if you are in SF and that's where I bought my machine.

As you will find there are a lot of dealers here in the Bay Area, but like typical California, they are all spread out over a large area.

Are you looking for a dealer or independent mechanic.

I've had my machines at Special Trackwork Inc they do good work but they take their sweet time

@dhasselbacher I checked out Stewart but they were super limited on services and timing so ended up with McKevitt in Berkeley will report back.
@justals thanks! Will keep Special Trackwork Inc on the list if needed.

May need an independent mechanic in the future since the new yard doesn't have space so my DIY efforts are extremely limited now too.

Great move, how are you coping with the hills? I'm in the South Bay and can strongly recommend Special Trackwork Inc for service.

The bad news is you are in CA so the jobsite options are a bit limited around SF with all the regulations. The good news is you are only 2-3 hours away from the Central Valley grading and ag work and conditions are great right now. Once the rainy season passes you can also get on most of the rural land-clearing projects. If you want something easier, check out the site-prep work around Gonzalez on 101 near Pinnacles National Park. If you want the bigger earthmoving contracts you have to head south for about 3 hours toward the Pismo Beach coastal builds.

Good to know another option! Yea obviously not a TON right around here but we run a small crew so i'm looking forward to picking up work around North and South CA for grading and site prep. Will absolutely be considering those Central Valley contracts soon.
